Welcome to our Academic Policy

Below are the following academic policies adopted by Smartedge Tech Academy addressing various aspects like attendance, academic integrity, grading, and other important guidelines.

Course Enrolment and Attendance

  • Registration: All students must complete the course registration process before the start of each term. Failure to complete the registration may result in the student being unable to attend classes or receive course materials.

  • Attendance: Regular attendance in lectures, labs, and practical sessions is expected. Students who miss more than a certain percentage of class hours (often 20-30%) without an approved excuse may be penalized or asked to withdraw from the course.

  • Leave of Absence: Students requiring a leave of absence must apply through the school’s official channels and provide appropriate documentation (e.g., medical certificate or personal emergency).

  • Participation: Active participation in class discussions, group activities, and lab exercises is expected. Students who do not participate as required may lose marks allocated for participation or be penalized.

Student Support and Academic Advising

  • Advising: Students are encouraged to meet regularly with their academic advisors to discuss their academic progress, course selection, career goals, and any academic challenges they may be facing.

  • Tutoring and Extra Support: Students having trouble in specific subjects may seek tutoring support or attend extra help sessions. The institution should provide resources such as a tutoring center, peer mentoring, or online learning support.

  • Special Needs Accommodation: Students with disabilities or other special needs should contact the school’s support services to arrange accommodations, such as extra time for exams or use of assistive technology.
